The biggest scandal about the NBNCo isn’t so much the poor choice of technology (economically speaking), but rather the wanton discrediting of wireless technology by Labour, Conroy and even Quigley himself. Since their insistence of a cap on the potential of wireless, the industry (wireless) has continued to progress in leaps and bounds. (They were even aware of LTE on the horizon when they were making such statements).

But now we have this.

Samsung says it has achieved download and upload speeds of tens of gigabits per second (Gbps).

The next wave.

And as Andrew Bolt put it, quite possibly the Death knell of the NBN.

In the last election the NBN was pivotal to Labours marginal win. It was a perfect strategy to focus on this, a technological and economical issue which few voters could truly comprehend, beyond the catch phrases.

Now, I would also say that this is a game changer for even my concept technology OurNet. Not that is wouldn’t still have a place – OurNet is still a great replacement of wireline-like applications.

However, the battlefront has always been for consumers, not wire-line (mainly business) consumers. People want to use the internet mobile. 4G was already the winning contender, but 5G signals a powerful future for mobile wireless and the final nail in the coffin for NBN.
